Day-by-day itinerary
Arrive Cairo — Our representative meets you at Cairo International Airport, helps with the visa on arrival if you are eligible (or checks your e-visa) and drives you to your hotel, about 45–60 minutes depending on traffic. A welcome drink is served on arrival. Check-in is usually from 2:00–3:00 pm, and the rest of the day is free to rest.
Pyramids of Giza · Sphinx · Grand Egyptian Museum — After breakfast, your Egyptologist guide takes you to the Giza Plateau, entering through the new Pyramids Visitor Centre, where a shuttle runs between the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Panorama viewpoint and the Great Sphinx. Going inside the Great Pyramid and camel rides are optional at extra cost. Lunch is on your own. In the afternoon, spend about 3 hours at the Grand Egyptian Museum next to…
Egyptian Museum · Citadel · Khan el-Khalili · Nile dinner cruise — After breakfast, visit the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square, the original treasure house of Egyptian antiquities, still full of statues, coffins and jewellery, for about 2 hours. Continue to the Citadel of Saladin and the Mohamed Ali Mosque, with views across Cairo (cover shoulders and knees; women need a headscarf). Lunch is on your own. In the afternoon, walk through the lanes of the Khan…
Cairo to Alexandria · Qaitbay Citadel and the Corniche — Check out after breakfast and drive to Alexandria on the Mediterranean coast, about 3 hours on the desert highway. After check-in and lunch on your own (Alexandria is known for its seafood, but falafel, koshari and pastries are easy vegetarian options), visit the 15th-century Qaitbay Citadel, built on the spot where the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria stood. Walk or drive along the Corniche,…
Bibliotheca Alexandrina · Catacombs · Pompey's Pillar · Montaza — After breakfast, visit the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the modern library and cultural centre built near the site of the ancient Library of Alexandria, including its antiquities and manuscripts museums (closed on Fridays and open only in the morning on Saturdays, so we plan this day accordingly). Then see the Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa, a Roman-era burial complex mixing Egyptian and Greek styles,…
Alexandria to Cairo airport · Departure — Breakfast and check-out. Drive to Cairo International Airport, about 3–3.5 hours, reaching about 3 hours before your international flight, so a flight after about 3:00 pm works best. If your flight leaves from Alexandria's Borg El Arab Airport instead, the transfer is about 1 hour.

Visa & entry
Indian passport holders need a visa for Egypt. Most apply for the Egypt e-visa online before travel (about USD 30 for single entry; apply at least a week ahead). Indians holding a valid, already used US, UK, Schengen, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand or Japanese visa can usually get a visa on arrival at Cairo airport instead (about USD 30). Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date, and you should carry your return ticket and hotel details.
Good to know
Grand Egyptian Museum tickets must be bought online in advance with a time slot (about EGP 1,450 for foreign adults in 2026). The Giza Plateau opens daily from about 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is closed on Fridays and open only 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturdays, so we do not schedule the Alexandria sightseeing day on a Friday.
Dress modestly: cover shoulders and knees, and women should carry a headscarf for the Mohamed Ali Mosque.
Tipping (baksheesh) is expected for guides, drivers and restaurant staff. Carry small notes in Egyptian pounds.
Vegetarian food is easy: koshari, ful medames, ta'ameya (Egyptian falafel), lentil soup and salads. Cairo has several Indian restaurants.
Drink bottled water only, and expect heavy traffic in Cairo; journey times can vary a lot by time of day.
Questions travellers ask
Do Indians need a visa for Egypt?
Yes. Most Indian travellers apply for the Egypt e-visa online before travel. If you hold a valid, used US, UK or Schengen visa, you can usually get a visa on arrival instead. We help with the application.
Is this a Nile cruise holiday?
No. This trip covers Cairo and Alexandria and includes a 2-hour Nile dinner cruise in Cairo. If you want a multi-day Nile cruise to Luxor and Aswan, see our Egypt Pyramids & Nile package.
Are entry tickets included?
No, monument and museum tickets are quoted separately because prices change often. We add them to your final quote so you know the full cost before you travel.
Is vegetarian food available?
Yes. Hotel breakfasts and the dinner cruise buffet have vegetarian dishes, and Egyptian food has many vegetarian staples. Cairo has a few Indian restaurants as well.
Is the trip suitable for seniors and children?
Yes. The pace is moderate, with no internal flights. The Giza Plateau and museums involve some walking, but shuttles and benches help, and the Alexandria days are relaxed.
