9 Days / 8 Nights. From ₹2,25,000 per person (twin sharing), plus 5% GST and 2% TCS.
A 9-day winter trip that begins in Oslo and crosses the mountains to Bergen on the Norway in a Nutshell route, with the Flåm Railway and a cruise on the Nærøyfjord. You then fly north of the Arctic Circle for three nights in Tromsø and three nights in Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland, with one guided Northern Lights tour in each place and a visit to Santa Claus Village. Breakfast and dinner are included every day. The aurora depends on clear skies and solar activity, so sightings cannot be guaranteed, but six nights in the Arctic give you good chances.

Day-by-day itinerary
Arrive Oslo · Opera House and harbour — On arrival at Oslo Airport Gardermoen, passport control includes the EU Entry/Exit System check (fingerprints and photo on your first Schengen entry). Our driver meets you and takes you to your hotel in the city, about 45 minutes. In the late afternoon, walk on the sloping roof of the Oslo Opera House and along the Aker Brygge waterfront. Go to bed early; tomorrow starts before 8:00 am.
Norway in a Nutshell · Flåm Railway and Nærøyfjord — A long, scenic day of about 10–11 hours. Take the morning train from Oslo across the Hardangervidda mountain plateau to Myrdal (about 4.5–5 hours), then the included Flåm Railway down a 20 km valley of waterfalls and snow to Flåm (about 1 hour). Board the fjord boat through the narrow Nærøyfjord to Gudvangen (about 2 hours), then continue by bus to Voss and train to Bergen. Lunch is on your own…
Bergen in the morning · Fly to Tromsø — After breakfast, a short walk through Bryggen, the old wooden Hanseatic wharf (a UNESCO site), and the fish market. The Fløibanen funicular to Mount Fløyen is optional at extra cost. Around midday, transfer to Bergen Airport for the flight to Tromsø, about 2 hours. Our driver meets you and takes you to your hotel. On a clear evening, you may already see the aurora from the harbour.
Tromsø city · Northern Lights chase at night — After breakfast, explore Tromsø: the Arctic Cathedral across the bridge (small entry fee), the harbour and the Polar Museum. The Fjellheisen cable car to a viewpoint over the city is optional at extra cost. Rest in the afternoon. In the evening, join the included guided Northern Lights chase: a small bus drives 1–3 hours, sometimes to the Finnish border, to find clear skies, and you return…
Free day in Tromsø · Optional husky, reindeer or fjord trip — A free day after the late night. Popular options at extra cost: husky sledding, a visit to a Sami reindeer camp with a sled ride and a meal in a lavvu tent, or a fjord cruise around Kvaløya; from about November to January, whale-watching trips also run. Most activities take 4–6 hours including transfers and need booking in advance. If the forecast is good, you can also book a second aurora tour.
Tromsø to Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland — After breakfast, transfer to Tromsø Airport for the flight to Rovaniemi, connecting via Helsinki or Oslo, about 5–7 hours in total. Finland is 1 hour ahead of Norway. Our driver meets you at Rovaniemi Airport, only about 10 minutes from Santa Claus Village, and takes you to your hotel. The evening is free to rest.
Santa Claus Village · Northern Lights tour — After breakfast, visit Santa Claus Village on the Arctic Circle (free entry): cross the Arctic Circle line, meet Santa in his office (photos are paid), and post cards from Santa's Main Post Office with the special Arctic Circle postmark. The Arktikum science museum in town is optional. After dinner, join the included guided Northern Lights tour to a dark spot outside the city, usually 3–4 hours,…
Free day in Lapland · Optional husky, reindeer or snowmobile — A free day. Popular options at extra cost: a husky safari, a reindeer farm visit with a sleigh ride, a snowmobile safari (a driving licence is required to drive), or an evening at an ice or glass-roofed aurora cabin restaurant. Snow activities usually run from about late November to March. Take time in the afternoon to shop for Finnish woollens and Christmas souvenirs.
Departure from Rovaniemi — Breakfast and check-out. Transfer to Rovaniemi Airport, about 10–15 minutes, for your flight home, usually connecting via Helsinki. Arrive 2 hours before a domestic departure, and allow enough time in Helsinki for the Schengen exit check before your international flight.

Visa & entry
Norway and Finland are both in the Schengen area, so Indian passport holders need one Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa. Apply to Norway, where you spend the most nights (5 of 8), through its visa centre. Apply up to 6 months and at least 3–4 weeks before travel. The visa fee is €90 for adults and €45 for children aged 6–11 (children under 6 are free), plus the service charge. You will need confirmed flights and hotels, travel insurance with at least €30,000 medical cover, bank statements and income tax returns. Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after your return date, have two blank pages and be less than 10 years old. Since April 2026 the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is fully in use at Schengen borders: fingerprints and a face photo are taken on your first entry instead of a passport stamp. ETIAS applies only to visa-free nationalities and does not affect Indian visitors with a Schengen visa; its launch has moved to 2027.
Good to know
The Northern Lights are a natural event and cannot be guaranteed. Clear skies matter more than anything; guides check weather and aurora forecasts and drive to where the sky is clear.
Winter temperatures are about −5°C to −15°C in Tromsø and can drop to −25°C or lower in Rovaniemi. Pack thermal innerwear, a down jacket, woollen socks, waterproof boots, gloves and a cap. Aurora tours usually lend thermal suits.
Norway uses the Norwegian krone (NOK) and Finland the euro. Cards are accepted almost everywhere, even for small amounts; you may not need cash at all.
Norway and Finland are expensive: a simple lunch costs about ₹2,000–3,000 per person. Indian restaurants exist in Oslo, Bergen, Tromsø and Rovaniemi.
Daylight is very short in winter: in December, Tromsø has polar night with only a few hours of blue twilight, and Rovaniemi gets about 2–4 hours of daylight.
Phone batteries drain fast in the cold. Keep your phone in an inner pocket and carry a power bank. A camera with manual settings and a tripod gives the best aurora photos.
Questions travellers ask
Are we sure to see the Northern Lights?
No one can promise it, as it depends on clear skies and solar activity. With 6 nights in the Arctic and 2 guided tours, your chances are good between October and March. Extra aurora tours can be added if the forecast looks strong.
How cold will it be, and what should we pack?
Expect −5°C to −25°C. Pack thermal innerwear, a warm down jacket, woollen socks, waterproof boots, gloves and a cap. We share a full packing list after booking.
Is vegetarian food available?
Yes. Hotel breakfasts have bread, cheese, porridge, yoghurt and fruit, and dinners can be arranged with vegetarian options. Indian restaurants are available in all four cities.
Is this trip suitable for children and seniors?
Children aged about 6 and above usually enjoy Lapland. Seniors should be comfortable with extreme cold, a 10-hour scenic travel day and late-night aurora tours. Snowmobiling and some husky rides have age limits.
Are the flights inside Scandinavia included?
No. The Bergen–Tromsø and Tromsø–Rovaniemi flights, along with your international flights, are quoted separately. We can book them all together for one combined quote.
