Good to know

Questions travellers ask

Is vegetarian food available in Japan?

Yes, with planning. Dinners are arranged with vegetarian options, including some Indian restaurants, and the ryokan prepares a vegetarian set if we tell them in advance. We also share a list of vegetarian-friendly places for lunch.

Will we see Mt Fuji?

Only on clear days. From Hakone and Lake Ashi you can see it when the weather is clear, which is most likely from November to February. It is often hidden by cloud in summer.

Is the JR Pass enough for all travel?

It covers the bullet trains and JR lines, including the Kansai Airport train. Metro, city buses and Hakone's mountain railway, cable car, ropeway and boat are not JR and are paid separately.

Are flights included?

No. The trip arrives in Tokyo and departs from Osaka (Kansai). We can quote flights from Hyderabad, Chennai or Delhi separately, or reverse the route if fares are better.

Is this trip suitable for seniors?

Yes for active seniors who can manage stairs and a fair amount of walking. We can add taxis on the Kyoto day to reduce walking, at extra cost.
