Visa & entry
You need two visas. Jordan: Indian passport holders can get a tourist visa on arrival at Amman airport for JOD 40, waived if you buy a Jordan Pass before travel and stay at least 3 nights. Egypt: Indian passport holders need a visa, usually the Egypt e-visa applied for online before travel (about USD 30 single entry); Indians holding a valid, already used US, UK, Schengen, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand or Japanese visa can usually get a visa on arrival instead (about USD 30). Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date.
Good to know
Buy a Jordan Pass (from JOD 70 at jordanpass.jo) before travel: it waives the Jordan visa fee and covers Petra, Jerash and most Jordan sites.
Grand Egyptian Museum tickets must be bought online in advance with a time slot (about EGP 1,450 for foreign adults in 2026); it is no longer possible to buy them at the gate as a foreigner.
Petra and the Egyptian temples involve a lot of walking in the sun. Wear good shoes, a hat and sunscreen, and carry water.
Tipping (baksheesh) is expected in Egypt for guides, drivers, cruise staff and toilet attendants; carry small notes in Egyptian pounds or US dollars.
Vegetarian food is easy in both countries: hummus, falafel, lentil soup and salads in Jordan, and koshari, ful medames and ta'ameya in Egypt. Cruise ships and hotels serve vegetarian dishes; Indian restaurants are found in Amman and Cairo.
Photography: drones are banned in both countries, and some Egyptian tombs and museums charge for or restrict camera use.
Questions travellers ask
Are the flights between Jordan and Egypt included?
No. The Amman to Cairo, Cairo to Aswan and Luxor to Cairo flights are quoted separately, along with your international flights, because fares change with dates. We plan the timings so the connections work.
Do I need two visas?
Yes. Jordan gives Indians a visa on arrival (or a fee waiver with the Jordan Pass), and Egypt needs an e-visa before travel unless you hold a valid, used US, UK or Schengen visa. We help with both.
What is the Nile cruise like?
You stay 3 nights on a river cruise ship with an en-suite cabin, a sun deck and a pool. The ship sails from Aswan to Luxor, stopping at temples along the way, and meals are served on board. A guide accompanies the temple visits.
Is vegetarian food available?
Yes. Breakfast and dinner are included every day, both countries have many vegetarian dishes, and cruise buffets always have vegetarian options. Tell us about Jain or no onion-garlic needs in advance.
Is the tour suitable for seniors?
Yes for seniors who can walk a few kilometres a day. Petra and the Valley of the Kings are the hardest days. The cruise is restful, and you can skip the Monastery climb at Petra.
