Day-by-day itinerary
Arrive Srinagar · Mughal Gardens · Shikara ride — Our driver meets you at Srinagar airport. The drive to Dal Lake is about 14 km and takes 30–40 minutes. After some rest, visit the Mughal Gardens along the Zabarwan hills: Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh and Chashme Shahi. Garden entry tickets are paid at each gate. Towards evening, take a one-hour shikara ride on Dal Lake, past houseboats, lotus beds (in summer) and the lakeside handicraft shops.…
Day trip to Gulmarg — After breakfast, check out of the houseboat and drive to Gulmarg via Tangmarg. The trip is about 50 km and takes 1.5–2 hours. Walk around the Gulmarg meadow, the golf course area and St Mary's Church, and play in the snow in winter. The Gulmarg Gondola is optional. Phase 1 goes to Kongdori, and Phase 2 continues towards Apharwat. Phase 2 often stops in strong wind. Gondola tickets are sold…
Srinagar to Pahalgam via Pampore and Avantipora — After breakfast, drive to Pahalgam. The trip is about 95 km and takes 2.5–3 hours. Stop at Pampore, the saffron town, where you can buy saffron and dry fruits. The saffron fields flower only from late October to early November. Next, see the 9th-century Avantiswami temple ruins at Avantipora, which have an ASI entry ticket. After that, the road follows the Lidder river up to Pahalgam. Check in…
Betaab and Aru valleys · Return to Srinagar — In the morning, visit Betaab Valley (about 7 km) and Aru Valley (about 12 km). Srinagar cabs are not allowed on these inner valley roads. Pahalgam's local union taxis run this sightseeing at fixed rates per vehicle, and the fare is paid directly. Chandanwari and Baisaran have had access restrictions in 2025–26, so we will confirm their status before your trip. After lunch, drive back to Srinagar…
Day trip to Sonamarg — After breakfast, drive to Sonamarg along the Sindh river. The trip is about 80 km and takes 2.5–3 hours. At Sonamarg, you can walk or take a pony to Thajiwas Glacier, about 3 km away. Ponies are optional and paid directly, so agree the price before you start. Zero Point beyond Zoji La is reached only by Sonamarg local taxi at extra cost, and only when the pass is open. Return to Srinagar by…
Departure from Srinagar — After breakfast, check out. If your flight time allows, visit the Hazratbal shrine on the banks of Dal Lake or pick up some last-minute saffron and dry fruits. Then you will be dropped at Srinagar airport. The airport has several security checks, so plan to arrive 2.5–3 hours before your flight.

Good to know
Prepaid mobile connections from outside Jammu & Kashmir usually do not work there. Postpaid connections work, so carry at least one postpaid number.
Nights are cool even in summer. From November to March, temperatures fall below freezing, so pack thermals, gloves and waterproof shoes. Snow boots and coats can be hired in Gulmarg and Sonamarg.
Pahalgam, Sonamarg and Gulmarg each have local union taxis and pony operators. Fares are fixed per vehicle or per ride, so ask for the rate card before you start.
Gondola Phase 2, Zoji La and some Pahalgam valleys can close at short notice because of weather or security. The day plan may change on the spot.
Carry some cash. Card and UPI payments are common in Srinagar but may not work for ponies, small shops or in the valleys.
Vegetarian food is easy to find in Srinagar and Pahalgam. Many hotels and restaurants serve North and South Indian vegetarian dishes.
Questions travellers ask
Is the Gulmarg Gondola included?
No. The gondola is optional. Tickets are sold online by the J&K Cable Car Corporation, and we can help you book them. Phase 2 depends on the weather and is often stopped in strong wind.
Can our cab take us to Betaab and Aru valleys?
No. Only Pahalgam's local union taxis are allowed on those roads. Your Srinagar cab parks in Pahalgam town, and you pay the union taxi fare directly.
Are lunch and dinner included?
Only breakfast is included in this price. Dinner at the hotels and houseboat can be added as a supplement on request.
When can we see snow?
December to February is the surest time, especially in Gulmarg. In March and April you will usually find snow higher up, at Gondola Phase 2 and around Thajiwas Glacier.
Is this tour suitable for elderly parents?
Yes. Most of the trip is by car, with drives of 1.5–3 hours, and you can skip the walks to the glacier or the meadows. Ponies are available at most places for anyone who does not want to walk.
