A 5-day winter tour built around two nights in Gulmarg, India's best-known ski resort. You get a full day for the Gulmarg Gondola and the snow slopes, and a second day to try a beginner ski lesson or simply enjoy sledging and snow play. Arrive Srinagar · Shikara ride on Dal Lake — Our driver meets you at Srinagar airport. Winter days are short, so after check-in head out early afternoon for a one-hour shikara ride on Dal Lake; the shikaras have blankets, and the ride is included. Srinagar to Gulmarg · Gulmarg Gondola — After breakfast, drive to Gulmarg via Tangmarg, about 50 km and 1.5–2 hours in normal conditions, longer after fresh snow. Snow chains are fitted at Tangmarg when needed, and on heavy-snow days the last stretch may need a local 4x4 at extra cost. Departure from Srinagar — After breakfast, check out and shop for saffron, walnuts or a pashmina shawl if time allows. You will then be dropped at Srinagar airport. In winter, flights are sometimes delayed or cancelled because of fog or snow, so plan to arrive 2.5–3 hours early and avoid tight onward connections on the same day.

Visa & entry
No visa needed — Indian ID proof required. Carry an original photo ID such as Aadhaar, passport or voter ID. Hotels and airport security will check it.
Good to know
Gulmarg is often −5 °C to −10 °C at night in January and February. Pack thermal innerwear, a heavy jacket, woollen cap, gloves, warm socks and sunglasses (the snow glare is strong).
Book Gulmarg Gondola tickets online as soon as your dates are fixed. Only buy from the official J&K Cable Car Corporation site; tickets from touts are not valid.
Use only government-registered ski instructors and sledge operators, and agree the rate before you start. Ask your driver or hotel to point you to the official rate list.
Fresh snowfall can close the Tangmarg–Gulmarg road, Sonamarg road or Srinagar airport for a few hours or a day. Keep a buffer day before any important onward travel.
Prepaid mobile connections from outside Jammu & Kashmir usually do not work there. Carry a postpaid number.
Hotels in Gulmarg use heaters or central heating; power cuts can happen in heavy snow. Vegetarian food is available at all hotels.
Questions travellers ask
We have never skied. Can we still do it?
Yes. Gulmarg has gentle beginner slopes and certified instructors who teach first-timers, including children from about 6–7 years. A 2–3 hour lesson is enough to try it. Lessons and equipment are paid locally.
Is the gondola included?
No. Gondola tickets are optional and sold online only by the J&K Cable Car Corporation. We can help you book them. Phase 2 depends on the wind and often stops in bad weather.
Is it too cold for elderly parents or small children?
It is very cold, but hotels are heated and you can choose how much time to spend outside. Avoid the gondola Phase 2 for anyone with heart or breathing problems, as Apharwat is nearly 4,000 m.
Is snow guaranteed?
From late December to February Gulmarg almost always has snow. In early December and March it depends on the season's snowfall; we will share the current conditions before you travel.
Are flights included?
No, the price is for the land package from Srinagar airport. We can quote flights from Hyderabad, Vijayawada or your city separately.
