Day-by-day itinerary
Arrive Malé · Transfer to your resort — On arrival at Velana International Airport, Malé, clear immigration (show your IMUGA QR code), then meet the resort representative in the arrivals hall. Your transfer is by speedboat (usually 20–60 minutes for resorts in the Malé atolls) or by seaplane (about 30–60 minutes), depending on the resort; seaplanes fly only in daylight. Check in with a welcome drink and fruit basket. In the afternoon,…
House reef snorkelling · Optional first scuba dive — After breakfast, collect your snorkelling gear and explore the house reef after the resort's briefing on entry points and currents; turtles, reef fish and small reef sharks are common. Non-divers can try a Discover Scuba session (optional, paid locally): a pool lesson with a PADI instructor and then a shallow dive of about 12 m on the reef, open to anyone aged 10 and above who passes a short…
Jet-ski, parasailing or a snorkel safari — Today is for motorised water sports, booked and paid at the water sports centre. A guided jet-ski ride usually lasts 30 minutes and parasailing about 10–15 minutes in the air, single or tandem; both depend on wind and sea conditions. You can also join a snorkel safari by boat to a reef or sandbank further away. In the evening, an optional sunset fishing trip or dolphin cruise is a quieter way to…
Free day · Last dives and lagoon time — A free day to repeat your favourite activity: snorkel the house reef again, paddle across the lagoon, or book more dives. Plan your last scuba dive for this morning at the latest, because divers should wait 18–24 hours before flying, and seaplane transfers count as flying. Watch the sunset before your last dinner at the resort.
Departure from Malé — Have breakfast and check out. Check-out is usually at noon, and the resort times your speedboat or seaplane transfer to your flight. Plan to reach Velana International Airport at least 3 hours before an international departure. The Maldives departure tax is normally included in your airline ticket.

Visa & entry
Indian passport holders do not need a visa in advance. A free tourist visa is given on arrival, normally for up to 30 days. At immigration you need a passport valid for at least one month beyond your stay (we recommend six months), a confirmed return ticket, a confirmed and paid resort booking for your full stay, and enough funds for the trip. Every traveller must also fill in the free IMUGA Traveller Declaration online (imuga.immigration.gov.mv) within 96 hours before the flight lands and show the QR code; no declaration is needed to leave.
Good to know
Scuba diving needs reasonable health. You fill in a medical questionnaire at the dive centre, and conditions such as asthma, heart problems, recent surgery or pregnancy may need a doctor's clearance. Check with us before you travel.
Do not fly within 18–24 hours after scuba diving, including seaplane transfers. Plan your last dive for the day before departure at the latest.
Resorts charge a green tax of USD 12 per person per night (children under 2 are exempt), plus 17% tourism GST (T-GST) and usually a 10% service charge on extras such as dives and water sports. These are not part of the package price and are shown separately in your quote.
Motorised water sports and boat trips depend on the weather and may be cancelled in strong wind or rough seas, especially from May to October.
US dollars and international credit/debit cards are accepted at all resorts. Indian rupees are not commonly accepted.
Use reef-safe sunscreen, and do not stand on or touch coral while snorkelling or diving.
Questions travellers ask
Are scuba diving, jet-ski and parasailing included?
No. They are booked at the resort's dive and water sports centres and paid there, so you choose how much to do. Snorkelling gear and non-motorised water sports such as kayaks and paddleboards are included. We can quote a dive or water sports package in advance if you prefer to prepay.
Can we dive if we have never dived before?
Yes. A Discover Scuba session needs no certificate: after a pool lesson, a PADI instructor takes you on a shallow reef dive. It is open to anyone aged 10 and above in reasonable health.
Is vegetarian food available?
Yes. Resort buffets always have vegetarian dishes, and most resorts can cook Indian vegetarian and Jain meals on request. Tell us at booking so we can inform the resort.
Do Indians need a visa for the Maldives?
No advance visa is needed. You get a free tourist visa on arrival, normally for up to 30 days, if you have a valid passport, a return ticket, a confirmed resort booking and the IMUGA declaration QR code.
Are flights included?
No, the price covers the resort stay and transfers. We quote flights to Malé separately; there are direct flights from Hyderabad and other Indian cities on several days a week.
