Day-by-day itinerary
Arrive Jaipur · Birla Mandir and evening at leisure — Our driver meets you at Jaipur airport or railway station and takes you to your hotel (standard check-in is around 12–2 pm). After rest, visit Birla Mandir, the white marble Lakshmi Narayan temple, in the late afternoon. The evening is free to walk around the old city or MI Road. Dinner is at the hotel.
Jaipur · Amber Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal — After breakfast, drive about 11 km to Amber Fort with your local guide, stopping for photos at Jal Mahal on the way. A jeep takes you up the hill to the fort, where you see the Sheesh Mahal and the palace courtyards. In the afternoon, visit the City Palace and the Jantar Mantar observatory, then stop at Hawa Mahal. Late afternoon is free for Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar, known for bangles,…
Jaipur to Jodhpur · Mehrangarh Fort and Jaswant Thada — Leave Jaipur by 7:30 am after an early breakfast and drive about 340 km to Jodhpur (5.5–6 hours), with a tea and lunch stop on the way at your own cost. Check in, then visit Mehrangarh Fort with a local guide; the fort closes at about 5 pm, so we go straight there if the drive runs late. Walk down to Jaswant Thada, the white marble memorial below the fort, and end the day at the clock tower and…
Umaid Bhawan Palace museum · Drive to Jaisalmer — After breakfast, visit the museum wing of Umaid Bhawan Palace, which is open to visitors (the rest of the palace is a hotel and a royal residence). Then drive about 285 km to Jaisalmer through the Thar desert (5–5.5 hours), with a lunch stop on the way at your own cost. Arrive in the late afternoon and walk along Gadisar Lake at sunset.
Jaisalmer Fort, havelis · Sunset at Sam sand dunes — In the morning, walk through Jaisalmer Fort with your guide: the palace, the Jain temples and the lanes where families still live inside the walls. Then visit Patwon ki Haveli, a group of five carved sandstone mansions. In the late afternoon, drive about 42 km (1 hour) to the Sam sand dunes for sunset. Camel rides, jeep rides on the dunes and the folk music and dance shows at the camps are…
Jaisalmer to Udaipur · Long drive day — This is the longest day of the tour: about 490 km from Jaisalmer to Udaipur via Jodhpur and Pali, taking 9–10 hours with breaks. We leave at about 6:30 am with packed breakfast or an early hotel breakfast, stop for lunch on the way at your own cost, and reach Udaipur by early evening. Rest after the drive; dinner is at the hotel.
Udaipur · City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Saheliyon ki Bari, Fateh Sagar — After breakfast, visit the City Palace complex above Lake Pichola with your local guide, then the Jagdish Temple close by. In the afternoon, see Saheliyon ki Bari, a garden with fountains and lotus pools, and drive along Fateh Sagar Lake. In the evening, a boat ride on Lake Pichola past Jag Mandir and the Lake Palace is a good option (tickets paid locally); otherwise, enjoy the view of the lake…
Departure from Udaipur — After breakfast, check out and our driver drops you at Udaipur airport (about 22 km, 40 minutes) or the railway station. If your flight is in the afternoon, you have the morning free for last-minute shopping for miniature paintings, silver and textiles.

Good to know
Day 6 is a 9–10 hour drive from Jaisalmer to Udaipur. If anyone in your group finds long drives difficult, ask us about breaking the journey with an extra night in Jodhpur or Ranakpur.
October–March is the best time. Desert nights in Jaisalmer can drop to 5–8°C in December–January, so pack a warm jacket. April–June days often cross 42°C.
Most forts have uneven stone paths and steep ramps. Wear comfortable shoes; Mehrangarh has a lift for part of the climb (small fee).
Pure vegetarian food is easy to find across Rajasthan, and many restaurants are strictly vegetarian. Tell us in advance if you need Jain or no-onion-garlic meals at the hotels.
Remove footwear and leather items at the Jain temples in Jaisalmer Fort, and dress modestly at all temples.
Keep cash for camel rides, boat tickets and small shops; UPI works in most places in the cities.
Questions travellers ask
Is food included? Will we get vegetarian food?
Breakfast and dinner are included every day at the hotels. Lunch is on your own, usually at a highway restaurant or in the city. Rajasthan is one of the easiest states for vegetarians, and we can ask hotels for less spicy or Jain food.
Can we stay in the desert camp at Sam?
This package keeps you in a Jaisalmer hotel and visits the dunes for sunset. A night in a desert camp with dinner and a folk show can be added at extra cost; tell us when booking.
Is this tour suitable for senior citizens?
Yes, with care. The vehicle is private and the guide sets the pace, but the forts involve slopes and steps, and Days 3, 4 and 6 have long drives. We stop regularly for tea and rest.
Why do we fly into Jaipur and out of Udaipur?
Ending in Udaipur avoids a full extra day of driving back to Jaipur. Both cities have airports with connecting flights to Hyderabad and other cities. Flights are not included, but we can book them and quote the package with and without flights.
Is it safe to travel to Jaisalmer?
Yes. Jaisalmer is a regular tourist city. Areas close to the border need special permission, but this tour does not go there.
